Since our last missive, there has been a plethora of developments at the Connaught Club.
September saw us embarking on a Masonic trip to the enchanting kingdom of Denmark with 20 of our most zealous young masons. Our time there was punctuated with memorable events including an illuminating tour of the Danish Grand Lodge and the privilege of attending two Craft meetings. Moreover, those eligible were fortunate enough to attend the inaugural meeting of Denmark’s Grand Chapter. Spurred by the triumph of this expedition, we’re preparing for our next Masonic odyssey to Chile in 2024.
October commenced with two pivotal events. Our diligent Secretary, Bro Michael Parsey, orchestrated the inaugural Secretary’s Dinner, an evening of gastronomy and libations at a prestigious Mayfair Club. Later in the month, in a pioneering move, we collaborated with the Universities Scheme to assume stewardship of Cavendish Lodge No 2620. Led by our Membership Secretary and Manager of the Universities Scheme in London, W Bro Jake Mossom PMetGStwd, this venture aims to usher more young people into Masonry via both institutions. The installation meeting welcomed over 50 attendees, including our distinguished guest, Past Deputy Grand Master, RW Bro Russell Race.
November featured a Masonic Seminar detailing the annals of the Metropolitan Grand Lodge, kindly hosted by RW Bro Matthew Hampson PJGW, Deputy Metropolitan Grand Master; a golden opportunity to delve deeper into its Masonic history.
As yuletide spirit permeates the air, the Club’s festivities are once again in full swing, with the much-anticipated Connaught Club Christmas Dinner coming to the illustrious In & Out Club. And in the New Year, we invite you to ‘Worshipful Mastermind’, our exuberant annual cerebral challenge and a stimulating evening for all. Come January end, we’ll embark on our inaugural skiing expedition to Tignes Le Lac which, with an enormous cavalcade of members and their entourage in attendance, is certain to be a most memorable trip.
As ever, the Connaught Club thrives as a sanctuary for young Masons. For those under 35, a membership awaits at a modest £25 annually, with a joining fee of £15 including a Club tie & pin. With a calendar boasting over 36 engagements for 2024, there is a treasure trove of experiences to be had.
